In my work, the physical properties such as the warmth, malleability and fragility of the wax lend
themselves to the temporary landscapes and map grids. Maps are a way in which humans process and
navigate their environment, thereby creating a familiarity of place and intimacy of knowing. As time
passes, however, change and memory alter both the physical environments and the way in which we
understand and remember them.

Each piece is a specific location in which I have a personal connection to, and these places are expressed
through the geographic coordinates which are the titles. I mix the recording of actual roads and streets
taken from real maps, and my own memories of certain roads and landmarks. These pieces create
space in which change happens and memory is recorded. Lines are established, covered or melted,
creating a dynamic relationship between the past and the present full of nuance and beauty.
